The
Footsteps Dance Team is a program of The Creative Outlet Performing
& Fine Art Studio. It is comprised of dancers who demonstrate
a natural talent and potential to develop with technique. Most importantly,
they also share a love of the sport and a desire to train, practice
and grow to become the best they can be.
Once
accepted to the competitive program, dancers become members of a
team. They are expected to have a high level of dedication and commitment
along with a high level of respect for their team mates, teachers
and competitors.
By working together as a team and supporting each other 100%, we
can ensure that everyone has a positive and rewarding experience
both during class and at competition.
Becoming
a team member also requires the commitment of the dancers’
family and friends who must understand and support their need to
be at classes and competitions.
Competitions
allow dancers to strive towards a goal. Dancers experience the excitement
of competition, and the thrill of knowing they have performed their
best. It takes courage and self confidence. Judges are professionals
in their industry, and provide positive and constructive feedback
to each performance, giving the dancers the ingredients they need
to even further expand their training and experience as a dancer.
2010
FOOTSTEPS DANCE TEAM
Entrance
requirements:
Minimum one year of recreational dance training, audition and approval
by faculty and studio director. Attendance:
Attendance at classes and rehearsals is mandatory. Attitude & Sportsmanship:
100% positive attitude towards self, peers, faculty and staff is
expected at all times, and good sportsmanlike behaviour is essential.
Discipline:
The studio reserves the right to withdraw a dancer at any time during
the season if repeated problems with attendance, attitude or behaviour
is not rectified through discussion with the dancer and parent.
Placement:
Dancers will be placed by the studio at a level most appropriate
for their age and ability. Track Suits:
A team track suit is to be worn at all community performances and
competitions. Suits are personalized for each dancer, with orders
taken in Sept. Suits are sponsored in part by the studio, and cost
approximately $50-60. “Dance Mom” suits are also available! Costumes:
Costumes range normally between $65 and $150 per class. A $30 deposit
for each costume is due Oct 15. The balance is due upon receipt
of the costume. Preview Show:
The Dance Team is featured in a preview show “A Step in the
Right Direction” in late December that also features special
guests and groups from the recreational line. Competition Selection:
The studio selects between three and six competitions to attend
each season (February to May). When selecting the competitions,
the studio is careful to consider the travel time involved, the
cost, the length (week long or two-day weekend), and past experience
(was it well run, positive feedback, fun atmosphere, etc). Competition Fees:
Fees vary depending on the competition. A decision is made by the
studio in October as to which competitions they will participate
in for the season. An invoice is prepared for the full amount, with
two equal payments due at the end of Nov and beginning of Jan. Competition Schedule:
Exact days & times of competitions are received approx. two
weeks prior. Times may be during school hours.
Class Requirements:
Required classes vary depending on age and form of dance taken.
These have been set with the best interest of the dancer in mind.
They provide time for learning and polishing choreography as well
as dedicating time to the technical aspect of dance.
Ages are for a guideline only, as dancers are placed according to
a combination of their age and ability. Not all competitive classes
are offered every year.

Creative and quality teaching by our instructors, alongside dedication
and hard work by our dancers, lead us through a very successful
